BCU EASTERN REGION COACH UPDATE DAY 2008

On Saturday 15th March 2008 over forty coaches from the East of England gathered at Bungay Riverside Centre for an annual Coaching Update day to refresh their coaching skills and learn new coaching methods and generally receive an update on how the BCU is organising and coordinating Paddlesport Activities.  Jeff Tozer, Eastern Region Coaching Officer and Stuart Briggs a National Development Officer from the British Canoe Union ran several different sessions including;

•          An Introduction the Paddlepower Award Scheme a new continuous assessment scheme for introducing juniors into the sport.          

•          Open Canoeing Techniques

•          Cross Stream Challenge a new practical fun and competitive training method for boat control and turning abilities using floating course. 

•          Fundamental Paddling Skills; A series of wet and dry exercises emphasising the basics of achieving good boat control technique.
